  43. Not sure if any one ownes a trademark on the IMG file format.
  44. IMG files are used by GEM a product and trademark of Digital Research Inc. and

  48. Not sure who if any one ownes a trademark for this file format. I would
  49. appreciate knowing if anyone does know. Note: this is the RLEs used by
  50. Windows, not the CompuServe RLE format.

  59.                              OVERVIEW
  60.  
  61. Paint Shop is a Windows 3.0 program.
  62.  
  63. Paint Shop will allow you to display, print, alter and save pictures that use
  64. variouse file formats.
  65.  
  66. Due to memory requirements for holding large pictures, Paint Shop will run
  67. the best in Windows 386 Enhanced mode.
  68.  
  69. Paint Shop can be run in Windows' Standard mode. Remember that large pictures
  70. take quite a bit of memory. If you do not have enough memory, to complete an
  71. operation of Paint Shop, a message telling you this will appear.

  73. If Paint Shop can not recover your origianal picture when an out of memory
  74. error occurs then Paint Shop will reset. Paint Shop resets by clearing the
  75. present picture from memory and the client area. Just reopen the picture
  76. file to get the original picture back into Paint Shop.

  78. Loading and Saving of GIF pictures and Dithering of any picture is done in the
  79. background,  so you may continue to work in Windows as Paint Shop is taking
  80. care of the processing of your picture.

  82. Paint Shop does allow for multiple instances (more than one copy of Paint
  83. Shop may run at the same time).

  85. Paint Shop has a built in Help system. All menu commands along with additional
  86. information may be obtained by selecting HELP - INDEX.

  91.                        PAINT SHOP DISTRIBUTION

  93. Copies of Paint Shop may be freely distributed, provided that PS.exe, PS.hlp,
  94. PS.txt, and Whatsnew.txt are distributed togeather.

  96. No fee, charge or other compensation may be accepted for the distribution
  97. of Paint Shop. Except, Public Domain Disk Vendors and BBS(s) may charge a
  98. nominal fee for distribution of the program. The receipiant of Paint Shop
  99. must be informed, in advance, that the fee paid to acquire Paint Shop does not
  100. relieve the receipiant from paying the Registration Fee for Paint Shop if
  101. the receipiant uses Paint Shop.

  106.                              LATEST VERSION

  108. The latest version may be obtained from 1 of 3 sources. These sources are
  109. CompuServe, PC-Library and PriZm Image Center BBS.

  111. Obtaining from PC-Library:
  112. PC-Library is a BBS in Minnesota that operates 24 hours a day.
  113. Guests may log on by calling 1-612-435-8058. Or if your local BBS supports
  114. Connect-USA, you may get onto PC-Library that way.
  115. Members of PC-Library can use MNP and baud rates to 9600.

  117. After connecting with PC-Library, you will have to answer some basic
  118. information about your screen width and your name and address.
  119. You will then be asked to select a user-id and password.
  120. Once you have done the above, a "Main" menu will be displayed. At the prompt
  121. type in:

  125. What does that entry mean?
  126. f = files
  127. s = select library
  128. guest = is the name of the library
  129. d = download
  130. ps = do a search with the first 2 letters as ps
  131.  
  132. You will now have a display of the files that match "ps". One of them
  133. will be Paint Shop.
  134. Select the number of the file that is Paint Shop.
  135. The full discription of Paint Shop will be displayed. You will be prompted
  136. what todo next. Enter the letter of the download protocol that you want to
  137. use, and then initiate your download.
  138. After the download is complete, type in x
  139. This will exit the system.

  141. PriZm Image Center BBS
  142. PriZm is a BBS in Massachusetts.
  143. The guest number is 1-508-697-3508.
  144. Paint Shop will be located in the directory named Windows.

  146. Obtaining from CompuServe:
  147. Use your normal routine for downloading files from Compuserve.
  148. Paint Shop will be in the following areas, as long as the Sysops continue

  160. period.
  161. If you continue to use Paint Shop after the 30 day trial period,  you are
  162. required to license the program by sending $25.00

  184. The liscense to use this program is effective until terminated.
  185. You may terminate the liscense by destroying all copies of this program.
  186. It will also be terminated upon failure to comply with any of the terms
  187. or condition of this agreement.

  190. THIS PROGRAM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND.
  191. In addition, JASC, Inc. specifically disclaims all warranties,

  194. defects in the program license granted herein in paticular, and without
  195. limiting operation of the program license with respect to any particular
